The location of the Environment Centre is special: the nine-acre site, which includes a small forest, a large orchard, range land, ponds and a farmers´s garden, is located in the urban north east of Hamburg, On the site you get the feeling being on a rural farm rather than being in a modern mayor city. Therefore, the Environment Centre is also a destintation for walks with nature experience, but also for children´s birthday parties and explorer rallies.

The Hamburger Klimaschutzstiftung (Hamburg Foundation for Climate Protection) is running and modernizing the Environment Centre since 2008. From summer 2011 visitors can expect new interesting attractions such as the interactive exhibition “jahreszeitHamburg” (seasonsHamburg). In this exhibition visitors can experience a walk through the four seasons of the year under the motto “Saving Energy – the Nature gives examples”.

In addition, the "Energy and Environment Glass House" demonstrates sustainable heating technologies in practical operation. Located in beautiful surroundings, a new restaurant serves delicious seasonal organic food and complements the offers of the Environment Centre from a culinary perspective.
