The City of Wishes

About 7500 wishes for the City of the Future the Train of Ideas has collected on its tour through 18 European cities. Exhibition visitors – children, students and adults – in the individual tour cities marked wooden blocks with their visions, creating the building blocks for the “City of Wishes”.

“More green in the city, more trees in the city, more parks in the city”, “No nuclear power”, “Affordable housing” and “More and better bike paths” – these and other wishes were among the most frequently mentioned needs for the city of the future.

The components show that the wishes of the European city dwellers are similar, regardless of whether they live in Oslo, Tallin, Barcelona or Paris. All the more sense makes the europe-wide dialogue about the future of our cities and the exchange about the best practices, that arealready implemented today. Both was achieved with the Train of Ideas.

The exhibition presents a city of wishes built from wooden blocks. These wooden blocks are marked with the ideas of the visitors, that have seen the Train of Ideas on its Europe tour.
The exhibition can be seen from 30 September to 24 October at the Info Pavilion next to the main train station.
